RTV Trials
Road Taxed Vehicle Trials
•
Our RTV trials are a series of competitions designed to test both driver and vehicle. Run at very low speed, these trials are all about planning, vehicle control and counting backwards.
Each trial consists of about 7 sections, each of which is made of a set route of 6 'gates' (pairs of sticks or canes) through which the driver must navigate without stopping, touching any gates or driving over his/her own tracks. Gates must be driven in the correct order with points being avoided by getting as far as possible. The first gate costs 12 points, the second 10 points, the third 8 and so on until you complete the section and go 'clear'.
The trials are meant to be non-damaging, however motorsport is inherently dangerous and scratches, biffs and bashes are all part and parcel of the sport. You have the choice of whether to attempt a section.
RTVs are a great way to learn what you and your vehicle can do and there are different Classes for each type of vehicle, SWB, LWB, coil or leaf sprung or special. It's also a great Social.
Chris and Jim McCairns are the RTV gurus and are always keen to have more help marshalling and setting up so please come along to help anytime you like. Once the RTV is over there is usually a couple of hours playing left and Marshals often play for free. RTV's cost £15 per vehicle to cover MSA insurance and the cost of the site. Dates are on the events calendar.
